🌿 Shea Butter: Sourced from the wild-growing shea trees (Butyrospermum parkii, family Sapotaceae, variety Vitellaria paradoxa), this natural butter is a powerhouse of skin and hair care. Shea butter is known for its incredible ability to nourish, protect, and soothe the skin and hair. It is especially beneficial for dry, damaged skin and hair, forming a protective barrier that locks in moisture and shields against harsh environmental elements.
🌱 Botanical Information:
- Origin: The shea tree, native to Africa, grows wild and untreated. These long-living trees start bearing fruit after about 15 years. The fruit, green and oval-shaped, grows in clusters and is harvested when ripe.
🏭 Manufacturing Process:
- ECOCert & Organic Fair Trade Certified: Ensuring sustainable and ethical production.
- Harvesting: The fresh, ripe fruits are collected by women between mid-June and mid-September as they fall from the tree.
- Processing: The nuts are separated from the pulp, boiled, and sun-dried. The fat-containing kernel is then extracted, crushed, roasted, and milled into a brown paste. This paste is churned with water to create a whitish butter, which is then decanted, filtered, decolorized, deodorized, and winterized.
🌟 Benefits of Shea Butter:
- Skin Care: Shea butter deeply nourishes the skin, forming a protective film that prevents dehydration. It is especially suited for dry and damaged skin, offering protection against cold weather and harsh conditions.
- Lip Care: It can be used as a lip balm to soothe and add shine to chapped lips.
- Hair Care: Nourishes dry and damaged hair, can be used as a mask or shampoo. When applied before swimming, it protects hair from drying out.
- Versatility: Solid at room temperature, shea butter melts close to 30°C, making it easy to apply.
